A veteran Philadelphia police officer was shot and killed with a high-powered assault rifle after a bank robbery in the Port Richmond section of the city on Saturday, and authorities spread out on a manhunt for the suspects. Police say 39-year-old Steven Liczbinski, a 12-year veteran who had recently been promoted to sergeant in the 24th Police District, was responding to the robbery of a bank inside a grocery store around 11:30 a.m., authorities said. The suspects fled, and opened fire after Liczbinski confronted them.
